Services for August L. Stork who was killed February 26th, when his car was struck by a Rock Island
train a mile east of Paxico, were held March 1st at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Newbury. He
was born in Westpoint, Neb., January 13, 1888, and had lived in Paxico since 1895. He leaves his
wife, Mrs. Catherine Stork; three daughters. Mrs. Jerry Wagner of
Sabetha, Miss Madelyn Stork of Topeka and Miss Joan Stork of the home; three sons, Francis R. and
August J. of Topeka, and Melvin of the home; three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Amelia Guth of
Topeka, Mrs. Louis Muckenthaler of St. Marys and Mrs. Carl Glotzbach of Paxico; three brothers,
Joseph Stork of Colorado; N. J. Stork of McFarland and George Stork of Indianapolis.

Melvin Charles Stork, 78, of Paxico, Kansas, died Monday, October 3, 2011, at
Eventide Convalescent Center in Topeka. He was a long time resident of the area.
Melvin was born February 13, 1933, in Paxico, Kansas, the son of August J. and
Catherine M. Meinhardt Stork. After his military service, Melvin worked as a clerk
for the Civil Service in California. Shortly following that, he returned to Paxico.
Melvin is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Wagner, Paxico, Magdalene Sippel and
her husband, Charles, Waterloo, Wisconsin, and Joan Sterbenz and her husband,
Bob, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Gus Stork and Frank Stork, nieces,
Joanie Sippel and Susan Stork, and nephews, Richard Wagner and Jess Wagner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011, at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paxico. Burial and military honors will follow at
Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
