The organisation of the Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers explained

This book presents an argument for the setting up of a force of Volunteers to be called The Royal Navy Artillery Volunteers. The purpose of this group would be to provide both coastal and Harbour defences against an enemy attack, thus freeing up regular Navy personnel for other duties.
